Laura Brant
Biography
Born in Canada, 1977
1997-2001 Studied at Fanshawe College in the Fine Arts program.
In art as in life things can be beautiful and things can be dark. Art gives
me an outlet to express both. I like to create works that pose an open
ended question so the viewer can fill in their own idea of what is being
said. My artistic background includes one year in the Jewellery and Metal
Smithing program at Georgian College, three years in the Fine Arts
program at Fanshawe College, and a year as a Graphic Artist working for
DICE Canada creating games for Game Boy and Xbox. Working with all
these different styles of art and design makes it hard for me to define
my style but I suspect Expressionism is the closest.
I love painting, photography and photo manipulation, sculpture, pen
and ink, found object collage, face and body painting, jewellery making,
and graphic design to name a few. I like to keep my colours pure and
bright to better create an emotional response to colour. Life is short
so you might as well use up all the crayons in the box.
